A to Z of Canal Wildlife

Canal Restoration and the Environment
Improving the environment and creating a green and blue corridor is one the main objectives in restoring the waterway. Creating wetland habitat for endangered species such as the water vole is very important but just a crucial is making a corridor where species can move from one habitat to another along the margins and hedgerows.
An integral part of the restoration is to carry out wildlife surveys before any work is planned. The following are surveys carried out in specific areas. The Trust is currently working on a action plan for the whole canal and works with partners and stakeholders on area and regional biodiversity plans
Gary Mason would like your help to record wildlife sightings on the waterway.
