Trust Engineering Consultant

Nominated by Eddie Thomas and Mike Lee, text by Eddie Thomas

David's designs and papers on the Engineering Committee's files, fully illustrate his professionalism and committment to the Trust's engineering work, and the scope of this is summarised in the paper presented to the Institution of Civil Engineering entitled "Restoration of the Wilts and Berks Canal: a model for voluntary engineering" published in November 2004.

The detailed designs I have seen, include:
-Reconstruction of Buxstone Bridge (Wootton Bassett) Design Calculations dated 1995.
-Standard Lock Design dated October 1995.)
-Assessment of Chavey Well Bridge (Calne) dated June 1995.
-Covering letter for Drawings & Designs Noremarsh Bridge dated August 1997.
-Standard design of lock wall (Chaddington Lock) dated April 2005.
-Beavan's Bridge Design dated June 1999.
-Stepping Stone Lane Bridge Design dated June 2003.

The Trust's Drawing Register dated September 2009 also lists other designs (eg: Elm Farm Bascule Bridge, Foxham, Stainswick Lane Lift Bridge, Marden House Footbridge, etc etc) in which David may also have had an involvement.

David's committment to the Trust has clearly been impressive! I confirm that I recommend David for the Roll of Honour. Co-Engineering Director Mike Lee has seconded this.
