Welcome to the July 2021 edition of On The Button
From the Executive The Trust has added another string to its bow (one of an increasing number of strings) in the form of Dr Joe Williams. Click the link below to find more details about Dr Williams. We are now accumulating a significant number of senior, experienced and skilled people to start driving forward our restoration agenda. Most of them will be working together in the B2B group announced earlier this year. The final procedural hurdles that were holding up the restoration of Pewsham Bottom Lock look like being overcome; the lock has been cleared of silt in readiness. This will go nicely alongside the £25K raised towards restoration of the dry dock there, and a further £4,825 from Chippenham Borough Lands for training of those essential people, our Work Party Organisers. Royal Wootton Bassett Branch Chair Alex Hutchings was elected Chair of our RWB Branch at an EGM held on July 19th 2021. You can find details of the branch activities on the website Swindon Branch Chair Swindon’s present Branch Chair, the redoubtable Rod Hacker, needs to step aside to focus all his efforts, as head of planning, on the canal in the New Eastern Villages. So, we need to find a new Branch Chair for WBCT in Swindon. This role offers an opportunity for successful people to contribute their skills for public wellbeing and environmental improvements. Melksham Food and River Festival The Trust is once again attending the Melksham Food and River Festival, which this year is being held on the Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September in King George V Park, Melksham.
