Trustee (Engineering portfolio)
Responsibilities include:

To be an active participant in the work of the Trust to restore the Wilts & Berks Canal, especially regarding development of high-level strategy, governance of the charity and limited company, and public advocacy with external audiences (especially those with national remits)

Engineering-specific responsibilities include reviewing the Trust’s engineering activity and procedures, and contributing on a non-Executive advisory basis to WBCT Engineering Team discussions/solutions

Head of Administration (paid role)
Responsibilities include:
- Provide support to staff and management - including scheduling meetings, handling correspondence and preparing documents
- Manage communication channels such as phone calls and emails
- Support the recruitment, onboarding and training of new employees
- Process invoices and manage accounts payable and receivable.
- Take notes at senior leadership meetings on Monday mornings, monthly meetings on the first Thursday of each month and the AGM

Development Planning Assistant
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor local authority planning applications and other local plans, developments or strategies
- Prepare comments or objections to consultations on planning applications and making submissions when an application goes to a public enquiry
- Engage in discussions with developers to protect or improve the canal’s support
- Assist the Trust’s project teams in gaining planning consent
- Help the Trust build professional relationships with planning officers and local councillors

Environmental Hub Chair
Responsibilities include:

Will build a team with members from all branches and with volunteers/experts from outside the Trust to look at all aspects of the environment and biodiversity of the Wilts & Berks Canal

Develop the WBCT biodiversity and environmental conservation policy and strategy, ensuring that it complies with the latest environmental thinking and the needs of society and the Trust

Community Partnering Officer
Responsibilities include:

Setting up engagement activities with schools, uniform groups and local charities to understand their needs and translate that into partnership activities with the branches and sites.

Working to engage with Parish Councillors, area boards and Officers in the specified areas, to make and keep them fully aware of the Trust’s objectives and the ongoing assistance needed from such bodies for the achievement of public benefits in education, wellbeing and leisure.

Safety Officers
Responsibilities include:
- An understanding of health and safety policy implementation, regulations and legislation
- Strong communication skills, the ability to give presentations and to carry out training
- Experience of risk management and an understanding of the principles of conservation

Engineering Team Member(s)
Responsibilities include one or more of the following:

Defining requirements of the restored canal corridor

Developing solutions to the engineering challenges

Preparation of briefs for external consultants and contractors

Liaising with other stakeholders (statutory and private)

Supporting volunteer workforce with on-going site activities

Project Manager
Responsibilities include:

Manage local canal restoration and community engagement projects in accordance with a defined scope

Agree and document the project scope, risks and issues using the Trust’s Project Control Document template

Manage the work of contractors when these are deployed to deliver canal restoration projects

Designated Safeguarding Officer
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage safeguarding and child protection practice across the organisation
- Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all members, volunteers, agents and affiliates
- Inspire a safe and secure culture by coaching and supporting others within the Trust to promote good child protection policy and procedures
- Maintain service schedules for branch equipment
