From the Executive: Strategy and Back to Business
WBCT is conducting a complete review of its strategy for the restoration of the Wilts & Berks canal to bring it completely up to date, six years after the first strategy document was prepared. The restart of restoration projects is being initiated through a programme called Back to Business, shortened to B2B.
A key component for this restart is a complete restatement of WBCT’s Health & Safety policy and an updating of the associated procedures and manuals. This work has been done by our Chief Engineer, Jonathan Coates, and is being reviewed by an independent expert before being adopted and monitored on an ongoing basis to keep our workforce safe and healthy.
B2B is focused on finding the projects along the canal line which deliver maximum benefit as quickly as possible. We are using a scoring scheme to inform our decision making and we’ll be inviting your comments during that process.
We want to get restoration moving again in this financial year. Wherever possible we’ll be utilising land access, planning consents and engineering designs which already exist to minimize the time to get new work started. We will continue to keep you briefed and involved.
