Turning point at Wichelstowe Swindon.
Due to the ongoing restriction at Westleaze, our passenger boat Dragonfly has had a much-restricted route available.
Working with our joint site venture partnership, permission was granted, for a temporary turning point to be dug in by the work party volunteers at Swindon. This will allow for Dragonfly to use the entire length south from Hall & Woodhouse/ Waitrose for trips, until the next phase is built and opened (starting later this year).
The dug out, is still to be finished and replanted in its surroundings, but on trials Dragonfly has successfully used it and turned, giving that stretch of water boat use for its trips.
We as a trust look forward to restoring and utilising every stretch of water, as this gives us all a purpose and reminder of the task ahead and the great successes for every section that gets completed.
A huge thank you to the Swindon work party, who have worked hard to dig out this section.
There is a new YouTube video available to view, showing some of the current Dragonfly route and one of its first attempts, using the new temporary turning point. Do enjoy viewing.
