As the Trust grows and canal restoration picks up speed, we have an increasing requirement for skills in different areas, such as biodiversity, community partnering, safeguarding, development planning and safety.

It’s also important that we provide more help in areas where we already have hardworking, skilled volunteers.  That’s why a key role the Trust is recruiting for is an HR specialist who can bring in a range of volunteers with the right skills and experience.  This will help our continued expansion, day-to-day operations and ultimately go towards achieving our objectives.

Since 2012, the Trust has been developing into a more cohesive organisation, planning and managing the largest and most complex waterway restoration project in the UK.  New recruits will be part of a passionate team of enthusiasts working to restore the full 70 miles of the Wilts & Berks Canal.

Patricia Clements, Head of Administration, said, “It is very rewarding to be part of such a huge project in a delightful part of the country which will benefit local communities and the environment.  Applicants will join a growing team who work together closely and support each other.  They will gain skills in an environment which they might be unfamiliar with, in the knowledge that their contribution will have a positive impact on local communities, wildlife and the environment along the whole canal route”.

Patricia added, “I would encourage people to apply.  As well as those who have the particular skills we are looking for, everyone has something to offer.  Training and support will be provided to help new recruits develop in their role and gain experience”.
