Spring is coming
Our wonderful volunteers have been busy preparing the canal for sping, with the planting of an assortment of bulbs and trees!
One Saturday morning in January, a group of volunteers of all ages met at the Wichelstowe wharf in Swindon. A large number of daffodil and narcissus bulbs had been given to us to plant along the canal and we thought the grassy banks behind the mooring site of our Dragonfly boat would be a good place to dig them in. Now we wait to see them burst into flower at the start of the spring boating season. It should be a great sight!
Additionally, Emma Leake, of the Canalside Partnership in Wichelstowe, organised a tree-planting event by Beavan's Bridge on Jan 19th. Some of our volunteers came along to help so hopefully we'll have a little grove of trees in due course.
